Toys R Us comes to Brickland!

Toys R Us is the second major retailer to come to Brickland. They join Apple who arrived 6 months ago. The Mayor cites a booming population as a reason why retailers are opening storefronts in town.

New police vehicles to arrive.

Brickland Police will be receiving new vehicles next week in order to add additional coverage to the expanding city. The vehicles were paid for by the developer of the new department store.

Brickland Department store construction begins.

The Grand Emporium began construction last week. The department store is slated to occupy the site of Fire Station 1 in Brickland. City officials indicated the new store will compliment the surrounding buildings in the downtown area.

Brickland Coast Guard responded today to numerous shark sightings along the shores of the city. No reported injuries or deaths have been reported. However four citizens have not returned home from a surfing competition near Brickland Harbor.

Department of Transportation Director Tom Derkin has told the Brick Times that the community campaign for traffic lights finally passed this week. The community cited several severe auto accidents around town in the last few months in their attempts to win passage for their request. There were some who were unhappy with the ruling. George Thompson, owner of the local auto body shop, insisted he would now have trouble making ends meet. ”I gut a kid at the local Universkity and twowithin to pay. How will I make me moneys to pazs it?”

Brickland Air&Space to begin construction of space station

Arnold Plates, Director of Brickland Air&Space indicated today that the Brickland International Space Station construction has begun. The first stage of construction will require two shuttle missions to establish the frame work for the modules. The first shuttle mission is set for August 6, 2009. Astronauts have been training at the Brickland Air&Space center for the last three weeks prepping for these missions. Plates states that 16 shuttle missions will be required to finish the space station. Tentative completion date is January 2010.

Brickland Baseball Team Fundraising Bakesale

The Brickland Brinks baseball team is suffering their worst start of the season ever. The team is currently 0-34 with no signs of any improvement. The team has decided to hold a bake sale with the proceeds from the event being used to buy baseball bats. It seems the pool sticks the players have been using since the start of the season, have failed to provide much run support. Brickland Ambulance Severely Underpowered

Brickland Fire and Rescue last week showed off their new hybrid fleet of rescue trucks. Unfortunately their attempts to go “green” has hit a snag. The manufacturer of the rescue failed to realize the correct scale of the trucks and currently there is no place in town the rescues can recharge. Fire chief Sparky Jones believes the situation will be resolved next week.

Man Found Loaded in Garbage Truck, Brickland Police Investigating

Brickland police chief Joe Smith has identified the man the Deptartment of Sanitation found stuffed in one of their recycle trucks. The man known as Al “the bookie” Bendito was the accountant for Brickland’s main organized crime family run by Tony “claw hand” Cannoli. The Cannoli family moved into the city three years ago and seems to be expanding the business in recent weeks. A failed attempt in fixing the union vote for the dock workers at the local harbor is believed to be the reason why Al Bendito was “on vacation” according to the Cannoli family.

Brickland Ambulance Transports World’s Largest Patient

Brickland fire and rescue was dispatched to the local Brickland mexican restaurant “Taco Bricks” for a male with difficulty breathing. EMT’s determine that the chest pain the patient was suffering was a result of the “all-you-can-eat” guacamole special the restaurant was serving. EMT’s realized that the patient was to large for the on-scene rescue truck and requested the bariatric truck and an additional engine company to assist with the loading of the patient into the rescue. Three hours later and several gallons of lubrication, the patient was successfully loaded into the rescue.
